Dodo Gang Story Time!

As aunty took the last bunch of plantains and cut through them with a sharp knife, the reality of the scarcity of raw plantain was brought home. Not one plantain tree had yielded harvest ever since the last harvesting season, and none had been brought in by the lorries too. The local medicine man said the plantain was the symbol of the god of fertility’s penis, and he was probably using it at the moment. So he advised patience and goodluck.
However rumours abound that multitudes of plantain trees were yielding harvest deep inside the forbidden forest, and that only children below the age of 15 could go in and come back alive.
So aunty finished slicing the plantain, and straightened out.

It had to be done, Boy Jay and his sister would have to travel to the evil forest.
Today.

Boy Jay and Ralia were the children of her elder sister who had abandoned them with her three years ago when she ran away with some businessman from 'the city', not even looking back to pick the headscarf that danced to the ground due to the speed of the okada she was on.

'Boy Jay!, Ralia!, carry una head come here'

Two underfed and emaciated children scattered into the kitchen, wondering if their dinner was already ready .
Boy jay didn't waste time 
'Aunty I don wash una cloth. Abeg drop small Ralia dodo put on top usual portion way una dey give me  chop, today. I be good boy'
Of course Ralia wanted to tear a hole right through his big mouth with her eyes.
Aunty waved it away,
'Big Jay, shut up! Na serious matter I been call una here on top. See'
she showed them the empty plantain box.
'Dodo don finish.'
Boy Jay and Ralia broke down in tears.
'Aunty whyyy???'
'You talk say you no go do this to us'
'Aunty na to strike oh'

So aunty had to slap Boy Jay squarely in the face so Ralia knew to shut up along with him.
'Na wetin una go do I been dey reason. No dey scatter water on top my food abeg.'
They both obediently nodded.
'So today today, una go enter aproko forest. Unless no food for one week'
Both of then chorused 
'Aunty!!'
And both of them were slapped.
'E no suppose less eight, abi ten bundle. If you bring nonsense come back, na on top mammy water head una go sleep this night. Gerrout of my sight before I find that my cane'
As aunty stood to look for it, they both scattered outside. And looked in dismay as she closed the door behind them, and locked the house.

Boy Jay straightened up, and helped Ralia with some dirt on her back.
Ralia spoke
'Boy Jay. Wetin we go do now?'

Boy Jay stopped dusting her unsersized gown

'Na to go bring plantain come back for aunty, make we move '

And slowly and surely, they made their way onto the evil aproko forest, on a mission to retrieve the ultra rare DODO.

The Lovely Couple

During the weekend, the gang got invited to the wedding of Dr. Chibuikem Onuzo & Dr. Obioma Ohaeri now Onuzo by 2 friends of the gang, Chinwe & Nnamdi (Chinwe's brother married Nnamdi's sister,LIVE!),so we got to be part of the guests of both the bride and groom. Unfortunately for us, when we got to the wedding, DODO had finished and we were sad, then fortunately for us, the bride's father turned us up with drinks, so we hard to turn up at the wedding as you know that the gang never dulls. God Bless this union, it was a lovely wedding, we had a lot of fun. Happy Married life Dr. & Dr. (Mrs.) Onuzo. #DodoGangEndorsed Wedding!

• Plantains have more vitamin A than bananas. 100 g fresh ripe plantains contain 1127 IU or 37.5% of daily required levels of this vitamin. In addition to being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin A plays a vital role in the visual cycle, maintaining healthy mucus membranes, and enhancing skin complexion.
• As in bananas, they too are rich sources of B-complex vitamins, particularly high in vitamin-B6(pyridoxine). Pyridoxine is an important B-complex vitamin that has a beneficial role in the treatment of neuritis, anemia, and to decrease homocystine (one of the causative factors for coronary artery disease (CHD) and stroke episodes) levels in the body. In addition, the fruit contains moderate levels of folates, niacin, riboflavin and thiamin.
• They also provide adequate levels of minerals such as iron, magnesium, and phosphorous. Magnesium is essential for bone strengthening and has a cardiac-protective role as well.

The Dodo Gang Sign

Finally, the gang has come up with the gang sign ( nothing too serious). Its quite easy to learn too. Just do the rock sign on both hands and join them together, make sure both thumbs meet and drag them downwards away from the other fingers. The shape of love should reveal itself right about now.
