WORLD PLANTAIN DAY 2026: PLANTAIN WITHOUT BORDERS

World Plantain Day is back and this year, we’re celebrating bigger than ever before!

The theme for World Plantain Day 2026 is:

PLANTAIN WITHOUT BORDERS.

Plantain has always traveled.

From West Africa to the Caribbean, from Latin America to Europe and North America, plantain exists across cultures, cuisines and communities in deeply unique ways.

It appears in street food stalls in Lagos, family kitchens in Jamaica, restaurants in London, roadside grills in Ghana, brunch menus in New York and homes across the diaspora.

Different countries. Different cuisines. One shared love.

This year’s theme celebrates the global journey of plantain and the people connected by it through food, migration, creativity, music and community.

And to celebrate this year’s World Plantain Day, we’re excited to introduce a lineup of #DodoGangEndorsed experiences taking place across different cities around the world.

The festival is designed as a vibrant cultural experience celebrating the versatility and global influence of plantain.

Most importantly, we’re just incredibly excited to reunite the community once again.

Please also look out for more information regarding vendor applications, artiste performances, partnerships and additional festival announcements in the coming weeks.

World Plantain Day continues to grow into something much bigger than a single event.

It is becoming a global cultural movement celebrating food, identity, creativity and community through one of the world’s most beloved ingredients.
